Montréal Museums Day
May 27, 2012
Eight exhibitions to see at the Biosphere as part of Montréal Museums Day
Montréal Museums Day is an opportunity to visit the Biosphere, an architectural symbol of Montréal, and its eight permanent and temporary exhibitions free of charge.
Among the feature exhibitions, ONE | Outfits from a New Era is a must see. It showcases 16 outfits made from waste materials that highlight as many environmental issues. Accompanied by lively art videos and soundtracks by up-and-coming young artists, these unique creations show building materials, batteries, salmon skins, bullets and other debris in a whole new light.
Also featured are the Ecoological Solar House, as well as the exhibition + 1°C: What difference does it make? and Planet Bucky, which offers a breathtaking panorama of downtown Montréal. Families will especially enjoy Water Wonders!, which delights every year thousands of children every year with games and exciting challenges.
The short film Migratory Birds will be shown throughout the day on six giant screens. This film recounts the touching tale of four species of migratory birds and stresses the importance of a healthy environment for their survival.
The Biosphere is part of the circuit "5-violet" of the Montréal Museums Day. For more information on the complete programming, visit http://www.museesmontreal.org/en/Montreal_Museums_Day.htm!
