Off-Road Compression-Ignition Engine Emission Regulations (SOR/2005-32)

The Off-Road Compression-Ignition Engine Emission Regulations (the Regulations) introduced emission standards for diesel engines used in off-road applications such as those typically found in construction, mining, farming and forestry machines. The Regulations, under section 160 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA 1999), applied to engines of the 2006 and later model year.

The Regulations Amending the Off-Road Compression-Ignition Engine Emission Regulations (the Amendments) impose stricter standards and new requirements starting with engines of the 2012 and later model years. The Regulations, including the Amendments, apply to persons in the business of manufacturing, distributing or importing for sale in Canada off-road diesel engines and machines, and to persons who import these engines and machines for their own use.
