Bird Conservation Region (BCR) Planning in Canada: Providing guidance on Bird Conservation requirements
This document provides an overall summary of the development, planning process, content, and roles of the BCR Strategies.
Users from all levels of government, aboriginal communities, the private sector, academia, Non-government organizations (NGO)s and citizens will benefit from the information contained in the BCR Strategies. BCR Strategies can be used in many different ways depending on the needs of the user, who may focus on one or more of the elements of the strategy.
This document outlines Environment and Climate Change Canada’s standards for the 6 minimum elements of integrated all-bird conservation strategies. The strategies incorporate national and international methodology developed by the four bird conservation initiatives that are part of the North American Bird Conservation Initiative (shorebirds, waterbirds, waterfowl and landbirds).
This page provides insight into the future plans for updating the BCR Strategies over time as populations change, conservation activities continue and threats to priority species and their habitats change.
